Lockington, Victoria: 68-year-old farmer crushed by reversing tractor

A farmer has died in a workplace-related accident in Victoria’s north after he was crushed by a reversing tractor.

The 68-year-old was attempting to attach an implement to an idling tractor on a Hansen Rd property in Lockington, near Echuca, on Sunday November 12.

According to WorkSafe Victoria, just before 11am the tractor “suddenly reversed”, crushing the man.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the death are yet to be determined and the investigation remains ongoing,” Victoria Police told NCA NewsWire.

Police confirmed that the man’s death was not being treated as suspicious.

WorkSafe Victoria said in a statement the incident marked the 51st confirmed workplace fatality this year.

There were 66 work-related deaths at the same time last year.

WorkSafe is investigating the incident and anyone with information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
